DR DENISE CLARE OLIVER, STB; MA; STL; STD
Dr Denise Clare Oliver completed her studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, where she received a Masters of Arts in Theology with a specialisation in Thomistic studies, and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology with a specialisation in Spiritual Theology. She earned her Doctorate in Sacred Theology in 2013 – her dissertation is entitled The Gift of Wisdom According to St Thomas Aquinas Shown in the Life of St Thérèse of Lisieux: God’s Little Martyr of Love.
Prior to joining the faculty of the School of the Annunciation, Dr Oliver was a professor at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas in Rome, teaching various courses in Spiritual Theology for the Licentiate programme. She has also been teaching short courses at the Pontifical North American College, in Rome, for the Ongoing Priestly formation programme since 2014, and continues to be an invited Lecturer for the Institute for Continuing Theological Education.
Dr Oliver has given lectures in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. She also offers spiritual direction and leads retreats and pilgrimages.
Dr Oliver is consecrated, and a convert to the Catholic faith. She was raised in a non-practicing Presbyterian household and converted to the Catholic faith as a young adult. Her first publication was Discerning Your Spiritual Journey with St John of Avila, Doctor of the Church (Gracewing:2013); and currently her work on the Gift of Wisdom is in preparation for publication.
